The Department of Forestry has announced a new event in conjunction with National Tree Week, which will take place from Nov. 27 to Dec. 3. The department will distribute saplings free of charge to everyone who wishes to do so and will hold several events for students. A gala event at Elementary School No. 2 in the Agios Dometios district will kick off Tree Week. The event will be opened by Agriculture Minister Costas Kadis. Several young trees will be planted on the school grounds. The school will organize the distribution of saplings to all who wish.
Where to get seedlings in Nicosia
You will be able to pick up young trees for your plot or home from 10:00 am at the following addresses in Nicosia:
- At the beginning of Ledra Street near Liberty Square,
- at the parking place between the streets Zinas Kanter and Theophanes Theodotou,
- Atalassa National Forest Park, from the southwest entrance and in the park of Agios Georgios,
- Atademia National Forest Park (at the refreshment kiosk).
In Limassol – in four locations
The distribution of seedlings will also take place in other cities. In Limassol, on the 1st of December, at 09:30 in the morning, in the Primary School No. 1 in Kolossi, a gala event will be held to mark the Tree Week, during which saplings will also be available. In addition, trees will be available:
- In the square in front of the regional administration on Anexarticias St,
- in the Polemidia National Forest Park (parking lot in front of the Forestry Department office),
- in Dasoudi Park next to the swimming pool,
- My Mall.
In Larnaca and Famagusta – December 14
For the regions of Larnaca and Famagusta, the Tree Week activities will take place on December 14 at 10:00. Saplings will be available that day at the Vergina Gymnasium in Larnaca, on the Finicudes promenade, by the Piale Pasha Mosque. The residents of Famagusta will receive trees at the Kavo Greco Environmental Center.
In the western part of the island, the Tree Week event will be held at the Kato Pyrgos Gymnasium on February 3 at 11:00 am. Seedlings will be available at the school itself, as well as:
- In the Pervola parking lot,
- in the square in front of the municipality of Paphos,
- in the central square of Polis Chrysochus.
